Rachel’s Network Supports Community Food Hub in Richmond, CA

Six years ago, Urban Tilth took a neglected three-acre plot of land in North Richmond and turned it into a flourishing community farm. Now, they are working to purchase land they’ve been leasing and expand programing and infrastructure. Rachel’s Network provided a grant to Urban Tilth to help make this vision a reality.

Young people continue to be underrepresented in our democracy, and COVID-19 has severely curtailed traditional youth voter registration efforts. As a result, Student PIRGs’ New Voters Project is using digital tools to reach potential voters and providing the information they need to navigate the 2020 election and beyond. Rachel’s Network is providing Student PIRGs a grant to help enable this work.

Rachel’s Network Provides Grant to Tompkins Conservation for Rewilding in Southern Chile

In 2019, Tompkins Conservation donated one million acres to Chile to help establish 10 million acres of new national parks in the country. Rachel’s Network traveled to Chile earlier this year to meet Tompkins Conservation staff, including president and co-founder Kristine Tompkins, and visit two of the new parks – Pumalín and Patagonia. The trip left an impression on members who subsequently provided a grant to Tompkins to support their continued conservation work.
