As a historic oil producing region, Santa Barbara has had a bumpy transition to clean energy. The Community Environmental Council (CEC) and other collaborators are leading that transition with the creation of Community Choice Energy. Join Rachel’s Network to hear from a panel of women climate justice leaders in the region who are involved in this effort. Before lunch and the panel, network with fellow funders and advocates at the newly opened CEC Environmental Hub, an innovative and collaborative space in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara’s ARTS District.
Speakers include Rachel’s Network Member Katie Davis (moderator); Goleta Councilwoman Luz Reyes–Martin; CEC’s Climate Policy Associate and youth climate advocate Farah Stack; and CEC’s CEO and Executive Director Sigrid Wright.
“The last five years were transformative…Our region is poised to showcase how we transform from oil being one of our primary industries to showcasing renewables. The key to unlock all of this is community choice energy.”- Sigrid Wright
