01sep1:00 pm2:30 pmWomen’s Environmental Leadership Speaker Series: Why Downballot Races are Key to Climate Action

Event Details

Hosted by Rachel’s Action Network (RAN)

Federal progress for environment has stalled at a painfully critical time. Between a Supreme Court ruling challenging the EPA’s authority to regulate greenhouse gases to Congress’s failure to pass climate legislation in July, hope for meaningful action during President Biden’s tenure is fading.

But the fight for our future isn’t just at the federal level. States and cities across the country are making decisions that will make or break environmental progress. Former Candidate for Georgia Public Service Commission and Catalyst Award Finalist Chandra Farley, and Executive Director of Climate Cabinet Action Caroline Spears join us to make the case for funding downballot races in the upcoming midterms and beyond. They share lessons-learned from recent state primaries, the importance of state advocacy and legislation for climate action, and why supporting downballot candidates is smart political spending.

(Thursday) 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
